Lion of Judah and lamb of Abraham sculptures put in place

The lion of Judah and lamb of Abraham sculptures have been put in place and can now been seen from the street on the pediment of the Passion façade.

Both pieces are the work of sculptor Lau Feliu, following Gaudí’s instructions and working in direct contact with Head Architect of the Sagrada Família Jordi Faulí. He first made scale pieces from which the whole artisan process began and also used new technology. The lion and the lamb are carved in Tarn granite.

On this façade, Gaudí designed a pediment crowned with one acroterion at each corner: on either side, the lion of Judah and the lamb of Abraham; and in the centre, a cross. This cross and the scene of the empty tomb are the only decorative elements left to complete this façade and should be put in place in 2018.
